My wife, Kerri, and I just had our first this past Sunday, June 22nd. Hayden Rose Murray was born at 5:13 pm and weighed 5 lbs 13 oz. Earlier that morning, around 2 a.m., Kerri jumped woke me up with a pretty loud "SHAUN! MY WATER BROKE!" That'll get you moving pretty quickly no matter what time it is. Later that day I was right there as she was about to enter into the world when our doctor asked if I wanted to deliver her. "Yeah!" was all she needed to hear and she was showing me where to put my hands, how to hold her head, when to pull and where to put her when she came out. Needless to say, it was an amazing experience and continues to get better every day.
She ended up being two weeks early and I have been trying to get to my camp since students are booked until our original date of July 7th. The students have been really understanding that I couldn't be there like normal, but I did my best to get some good coaching and good times in while they were there. Travis, Kyle and Robby have all been great too, covering for me while we make doctor visits and discuss things like the color of my daughters poop. Which, by the way, is turning yellow and that is a good thing!
I have been getting some time on the water in the in between times and having a great time. Most likely because I am not competing until nationals in Aug. and there isn't any pressure. Yeah, I still get nervous at comps, in fact, probably just as nervous as when I first began. One thing I have learned is to not try to push the nerves away, they will only get worse if you do. You gotta embrace them and let them help you focus and kick it up a notch at the same time.
It's pretty hot here in Florida, but it probably is most places this time of year. It rains nearly every afternoon which is good because we really need the rain to fill our lakes back up. People are always surprised that our lake are normally about 10 feet deep, so if we are down a couple feet it really makes a difference, especially in shallow spots.
I'm rambling, so I'm gonna go now. Thanks for checkin in.
